Your community, our community
The YMCA of Saskatoon is an important multi-service charitable organization. It is an association of people who are dedicated to improving lives and communities.
Who We Serve & How
- Over 6000 children, youth, adults and seniors are served annually through a YMCA experience.
- Over 500 campers participate in a YMCA Day Camp during the summer.
- Over 400 children are enrolled in before-and-after school programming at 11 elementary schools throughout the city.
- Over 40 children participate per day in school day camps throughout the year during common day or professional day dismissals.
- We have been supporting 70 families for more than 20 years with quality not-for-profit childcare at our 2 Childcare Centres.
- Over 90 volunteers are involved in all aspects of YMCA programming.
- Over 90 full, part time and seasonal staff, together with our volunteers, help serve the needs of the Saskatoon community, YMCA members and participants.
YMCA Philanthropic Support
- In 2009, the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign raised over $60,000 to provide financial assistance directly to those children in our community who otherwise would not be able to afford to participate in YMCA membership or programs.
- The YMCA receives significant funding from Saskatoon's United Way to:
- Ensure that nobody is denied access to membership or programs for financial reasons
- Enable partner organizations to pay reduced rates for their participants to access YMCA programs, services and facilities.
- 12% of the total YMCA of Saskatoon membership receives financial assistance.
Strong Kids Campaign
The YMCA is a leading Canadian charity. The
YMCA Strong Kids Campaign is focused on raising much needed financial
support for children, teens and families who are unable to afford the
full cost of participation in a YMCA program or activity.
As prospective donors we all wonder how our individual gift could ever have an impact when the needs of our community seem so great. The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign helps one person at a time, one family at a time, or one program at a time. That might mean providing the funds to:
- Help a child attend day camp for the first time
- Help a struggling teen find employment
- Enable a child to participate in a recreation or fitness activity
- Enable a struggling family to use a child care facility
- Help youth gain the confidence and skills to avoid addiction, violence, and isolation
Each YMCA association offers unique programs to serve the needs of their community; each community has children, teens, and families that need your help. We encourage you to invest in a child today. No Risks. Only Returns.
