Active Adult Swim Program
The YMCA Active Adult Swim Program is designed for adult learners ages 16 +.

The program is divided into 3 levels:

  1. Learn to swim skills—learn the basics of swimming and water rescue.  For learners who are afraid to swim
  2. Swimming skills - learn to perfect swim strokes for recreational swimmers or  just feel comfortable swimming lengths in the pool.  For learners with some swim ability.
  3. Swimming for Health—Learn the benefits of swimming as exercise and develop workout plans with your instructor.  This class is designed to give adult learners the option to design their own goals with the  help of a qualified instructor.

YMCA Learn To Swim Levels
The YMCA Learn to Swim program is a four-level instructional program that introduces a series of easy to learn skills to the non-swimmer in a values-based environment. Successful completion of the four level progressions indicates that the learner is capable of performing a variety of skills in shallow
and deep water, including the fundamentals of the front crawl stroke. The levels are: Otter, Seal, Dolphin, and Swimmer. The purpose of this program is to help build values and orientate individuals age 6 and over to fundamental swim skills.

YMCA Star Program
The YMCA Star Program introduces the swimmer to a wide variety of swimming and water activity skills in a values based environment. The young swimmer is better able to select a satisfying path toward synchronized swimming, lifesaving, competitive swimming or leadership at the more
advanced levels and be confident that the basic instruction has been sound. This program consists of 6 levels: Star 1 to Star 6. For the purpose of developing individuals, the YMCA Star Program improves swimming ability, furthers water sport and safety skills, and develops endurance and new strokes.  The YMCA Master Swimmer program also allows the learner to explore leadership opportunities within the YMCA as well as future opportunities in aquatics.

SESSIONS

January 10 - April 18, 2010
  • Members are able to work on skills at their own pace
  • Members are examined any time they are ready.

The Sask-Rescue Lifesaving & Lifeguard Club was created in 1987 to meet a specific need in Saskatoon. Our main goal is to provide a realistic environment where participants could learn and practice rescue, leadership skills and techniques that will be used in a real emergency and in teaching others. We exist to train the best possible lifesavers, lifeguards, and instructors. We operate in a club format instead of a class format. This means that the participants in our program belong to the Sask-Rescue Lifesaving & Lifeguard Club and thus receive all of the benefits that come from belonging instead of just signing up for a course.
